Firstly, do keep in mind that as the title of the website suggests, Boomp3 will only accept songs in the mp3 format.  So, if you’ve purchased a song off iTunes, you won’t be able to share it using Boomp3 for two reasons: (1) all songs provided on iTunes are encoded in the AAC format and (2) unless the songs is denoted as iTunes Plus (click for screen cap), the song is protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM).  While you can upload an AAC file, the player will not play the song; if you don’t know this at the start, uploading song after song only to have it not play can cause much frustration. *cough* Unprotected AAC files can easily be converted to mp3, but that’s for another tutorial….

Anyways, to the topic at hand:

1. Type http://www.boomp3.com in your browser’s address bar.

2. Click the button which reads “Browse.”

A window will pop-up.  Browse to the location of the mp3 file you’d like to share.  Click “Open.”

If the file doesn’t automatically being to upload,  click “Upload.”

3.  When the file starts uploading, a form will appear.  You will be asked for the song title and your email address.  (Once the song has been successfully uploaded, a confirmation is sent to the given email address.)  You must also accept their copyright policy.  You will also be given the option allow listeners to download the track in addition to listening to the song or to only listen to the song.

Once the form is completed, click “Save.”

If the file is still uploading, you will be asked to wait for the upload to complete:

4.  Once the file has been successfully uploaded, you will automatically taken to following screen:

Also note that to the right of the player, there is a button which reads “Download mp3 file.”  If on the previous screen you selected “Listen Only,” this button will not appear.

5. To post the player on the blog, click the link which reads, “Post this player to your blog.”

The link will expand and you will be given the code to copy and post on the blog:

6. Go to your post or comment and paste the code:

If you’re pasting the code in a post, make sure to do so in HTML mode and not Visual.

And the result:

7. As a listener, if you find yourself absolutely loving the song, you can click the Boomp3.com link to the right of the player:

…and you will be taken to the following page of boomp3. If you’re lucky, there will be a button to the right of the player which you can click and download the mp3.

All that being said, I expect some great tunes to start flowing on the blog. ;o)

1. Launch Firefox. Type “http://www.hezzer19.org” in the browser’s address bar:

2. Presto! You’ve arrived at The Attic.

3. Go to “Bookmarks.” Select “Bookmark This Page…”

4. The following dialog box will appear. Click “OK.” You’re done!

5. Next time you have an inkling to visit, go to Bookmarks and select “The Attic.”

…and you’ll be able to bypass the search engine and settle-in for a fun read.

Not using Firefox? Here’s how to bookmark using the ever-popular Internet Explorer 7:

1. Launch Internet Explorer. Type “http://www.hezzer19.org” in the browser’s address bar:

2. You’ve ascended the stairs and arrived at The Attic.

3. Click the star and plus-sign icon; select “Add to Favorites…”

4. The following dialog box will appear. Click “Add.” Good job! You’re successfully added “The Attic” to your Favorites.

5. Next time you feel like enjoying some snark, click the star icon and your Favorites list will be displayed in the sidebar.

Clicking “The Attic” will lead you right back up the stairs.
