The auditions and Vegas episodes are over mercifully fast. I mostly enjoyed them. The only thing I have an issue with is the choice of including a sixth man. How fucking unfair is that to the women. Already I see a cloud looming over my enjoyment of what should be an extraordinary season. There are some really good contestants.

Please producers and judges, do not make me sick these guys on you…

DCD AVERT YOUR EYES!

So speaking of good contestants, you might hardly realize it from the Meet the Top Eleven Show. WARNING RANT TO FOLLOW! It’s going to be short and sweet.

Where to start. OK, I am reading at TWoP, lordy the Pasha and Anya and Mark fans are hellishly obnoxious (and I really like these dancers too).

Apart from that, I agree with some of the criticisms I am reading. As I watched So You Think You Can Dance last night, I kept saying to myself “The Allstars is a fucking bad idea”.

It was especially obvious in the Pasha, Anya and Christina trio. No ballroom boys, so they had the two women dance with an almost shirtless (and eventually shirtless) Pasha. The dancing may have been great, but shit, I am a human heterosexual woman, so I didn’t notice. Christina was totally shafted, it was a Pasha and Anya hot dancer fest. I fucking hated it. It was a showcase for PASHA AND ANYA, not the contestant.

Maybe the Supreme Powers That Be for SYTYCD might behave if I sicked some of these on them…

So the end result is I hated that routine, shirtless or not shirtless. Fuck them.

OK, let’s see, Mia uses her extraordinary choreography skills on, uh, let’s see, Billy and Alex. Really? I did not see that one coming (that is sarcasm if you didn’t know).

Do you think there is any favouritism going on? It is only an exhibition episode and certain highlighted contestants get the better choreography already.

So what will be the end result to this season? Fans of the show will be besotted and go ga ga over their favourite All Stars, screw the new guy, and the choreographers and producers aided by the judges will pimp and push ahead the dancers they prefer (well that much hasn’t changed).

And I was so excited for the new season, now I am back to being jaded and unhappy to a great degree.

What will cheer me up? Oh hey, I know just the dance!

OK, I start with this YouTube, just because I like it, so piss off.

OK, I have not done any recapping in awhile, even for my beloved Amazing Race. I hit a wall and my brain seized up at the idea of recapping another show and trying to be clever and encouraging people to read more.

So, the recaps/reviews stopped.

Part of the problem was I had overdosed, I swear to god, how do the good people at TWoP do this so consistently? Maybe being paid helps. Ah money, you cruel and heartless thing you, such a trouble maker, but so tempting and alluring. I hear your Siren call. Oh my.

So the energy for writing wained. So when things irritated me beyond belief, I found it difficult to even attempt to write something. With the Amazing Race it was when my favourites were eliminated. I still enjoyed the show and watched, but I did not feel like going into detail about the Stupid as Posts Brothers (sorry to all the posts out there) or the screaming defeatist Miss Ex-America. No, I didn’t want to do it.

Then there was SYTYCD. Man, I loved the dancing, but I was sick of the ridiculous beyond belief manipulations with the American show. And the sight of Nigel brings up a special feeling in my throat and I have to suppress the, well I don’t want to get gross here, so I will not go into details. I personally find him revolting. I would rather listen to Mary scream ten times in a row than watch one second of him being perverted/hypocritical/assholey/, well you get the picture. Thank goodness for Adam.

The Canadian show. Oy. I liked it, but the judges! Hell get rid of them! The guest judges were good (I liked Karen Kain, Mia, etc. ). And Leah Miller. Why can’t she be stuck in a Zombie Apocalypse on an island somewhere? (I say an island so the Zombies can’t get the rest of the world). Or why can’t she meet these guys?

Ah, I love my sharks!

Well, watching the Finale brought back the joy for me. I realized that I liked everyone in the final six, and I did not care who won. The show was good fun, AND NOT TOO RUSHED TO MAKE WAY FOR A STUPID AS SHIT SHOW. Not that I’m making a comment about the show last night.

Ahem. Even Nigel did not nauseate me tonight. So I felt a need to share my joy.

So tonight I am playing hooky from making my Christmas presents. Well, hell, some ornaments are done…

They showed many routines tonight, they were all fun. I liked the Hip Hop one with the three guys. For once I did not feel like falling on the floor in a tantrum and I did not feel like hurling something at the television set. I maintain that Hip Hop can be good. I wish this would happen more often.

It was fun to see the Tap Dancers again. Tapping to Ella Fitzgerald, I’m in heaven, I adore tap so much. And Ella is my favourite singer of all time. I love her.

The producers gave the viewers what they wanted, Ryan and Ashleigh dancing together in a ballroom routine they choreographed. Nice to see. I liked it.

!!!MEANDERING ALERT!!! Last night’s show was so very unsatisfactory. It was extremely rushed. Cat sounded like she was speed reading and there was no space to think about the routines. I loved Nigel’s Big Brother treatment (not the fucking television show that is repulsive as snot, Big Brother as in 1984, Orwell, Ministry of Truth) of his opinion of Kathryn. All of the sudden she was the girl he liked all along. Oh fuck off Nigel. Wanker. END OF ALERT.

One thing about the musical talent tonight, first why musicians, and not more dance acts or more routines from this season? Second, they all kind of sucked, some more than others (some a lot more, I am looking at you Leona and Jennifer, wow, both of those were beyond horrid). So let us not acknowledge these acts again, shall we (OK, Adam and Mary Jane were adequate-ish, but not so memorable to me).

There was a dance group called the Groovaloos. They were a lot of fun…

I missed the show at the beginning of the season where they showed the top 20 Wade routine. Wow. I liked it. Wade can choreograph anytime as far as I’m concerned!

Some other observations: oy Kathryn’s speaking voice, it is a good thing we did not hear it too often; what the hell was on Adam Lambert’s shoulder; Ryan and Ashleigh have grown on me throughout the season and I ended up liking them very much; and I was glad they showed Sean Cheesman’s routine again, I love his stuff.

I wanted to find my favourite Cheesman routine with Lisa and Vincent, but I could not find it, so bugger. This commercial was on during the show and it is so cute…I like it…

The order of elimination, I got it right in my predictions (ask Hezzer, she was there in chat when I made my predictions, I was good! ). It was rather obvious though, I do believe a monkey could have figured it out. But before the first elimination they showed poor Russell being supported onto the stage by Ryan, poor guy really hurt himself. Good that it didn’t happen during the season. Ironic that he had two partners who had injuries and he got injured tonight.

Congratulations to Russell for his win. I always liked him, he wasn’t the best, but he was good and seemed likeable. As he was thanking god during his thank you speech, god was probably sitting in the tub saying, “Uh where’d the damn soap go”. You did it with hard work Russell, and you seem like a nice guy, that is why people voted for you. Hopefully appearances in this case aren’t deceiving.

Cat was sweet and a joy as always.

Speaking of cats, there was an adorable commercial for Temptations, I couldn’t find it on YouTube, but this one is an older one and it is fun…

Still can’t find the rest of them so here’s the entire show…

Bloody bastards have already removed the few I was able to find so…here’s the entire show.

This season is not grabbing me. None of the dancers are making me care. I only see ones I don’t really connect to, I feel no excitement. What I see are certain dancers being propped up by the judges for reasons unknown to me. Unfortunately, teen little boy heart throbs (I prefer some maturity which often means, BETTER DANCING, hello) and Donny Osmond lookalikes do not wow me. In fact, I am underwhelmed.

When I was disappointed with other seasons and the judges’ comments, the overly harsh stuff and favouritism, I thought the Canadian judges would be different. Well, so far they are too much the opposite, not enough criticism, yet the favouritism is still there. Having Mia as a guest judge tonight was a breath of fresh air, I will never say I hate her again (well…maybe, we will see). I liked her comment when she called the one dance the most forced sexiness she’s seen. I agreed. Having Rex as a judge tonight has been good too. He is funny and makes me laugh. Karen Kain last week was lovely. What a classy lady, she is so much better than a hot tamale screaming harpy.

Just saying.

But the odd guest judge who is entertaining does not make up for the bad. Seriously.

Not having a favourite would be a good thing, so I thought, well, no. You need some one to cheer for. I do like Vincent, especially after tonight’s Jive (I gravitate to French men named Vincent). Still, I see how popular certain dancers are with the teen girls, and I figure, what is the point? No offence to anyone, I can’t get motivated to vote.

I also liked the Theatre tonight, tapping makes me smile.

But none of this is enough to make me really care, there is still too much that annoys me. One of the biggest things is Leah.

Leah. Sigh.

Do I really need to explain this one?

Our population up here in Canada is not that small that would make it impossible to find someone good or likeable or talented or not vomit inducing.

Seriously people, don’t judge us Canadians by her, or Celine. Or Ben seriously. We do have talent up here…

OK, let’s begin…

Tap dancer Everret dances with Tara Jean, a contemporary girl. And they get to do the Jive. The song choice is Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life. Costumes and styling suggest skanky and naughty. “Down and dirty” were the words the performers used. Everret wore a wallet chain, so distracting, we hates wallet chains we do. It was fine, not stellar, memorable for me mostly because of the music.

The judges love their personality, and the performance, damn but the judges love everything tonight. They are starting off with lots of praise.

Vincent (go figure, another Vincent) who does ballroom dances with contemporary Amy. Can we say Samba? They messed up their lift, but they were solid. OK, what is it with me and guys named Vincent? I think I will like this guy, I did in the audition rounds. As mentioned, they messed up their lift, but they recovered well.

Holy Mother of Pearl, Vincent is only 20 years old? Such poise and maturity, damn, I cannot lust after him, he is way too young. The judges loved them despite the fuck up. More lovefest. Huh, it’s going to be like that tonight is it? OK, I may ignore judge comments tonight, unless something clever is said, or sharks attack them.

Oh, Nico makes an appearance, and he assists Stacey for the contemporary routine coming up. Also, Nico is an appropriate age to lust after. He is a fine looking specimen. Yes he is (sigh, remember the gravity defying jeans, sigh again).

Cutey pie Hip Hopper Cody (guaranteed to get the tweenie vote) dances with Melanie M. Well, they get the contemporary, with Nico helping. Melanie was another one I liked in the auditions. Hopefully this will continue.

What I hope won’t continue is the choice of Celine Dion for the music. Please, choreographers, have some sympathy for my poor nerves.

Colour me surprised, Cody didn’t suck, I thought he would, but he didn’t. He has maybe taken other dance lessons. He held his own. She is quite good, oh dear I am starting to develop favourites. Dang. I’m not supposed to do that.

Emanuel and Last Year Vincent’s Girlfriend, Kim dance together. Poor girl. Well, one plus is Idiot Boy has gotten rid of the stupid hair. We still hates him we does my precious. Some one on another board (was it TWOP? I don’t remember) said he must have had some work done to his face. He does kind of look grotesque that way. And they get Hip Hop, Kim’s specialty.

Have I ever mentioned that Hip Hop is not my favourite? No? Well, most of the time I feel we get watered down emasculated Hip Hop on these shows. I still find it so, though, Kim did well, she should have. This is a BIAS ALERT, I dislike Emanuel, so when I find him clumsy and awkward looking, it might just be me, take it with a grain of salt. They danced to MC Hammer and there was at least no stupid freaking story about pregnancy, or broken romance or eating pizza, no this routine was mostly just dancing. Towards the end, it did kind of bore me.

He danced it kind of prissy, she was more butch than he was.

Well the judges continue on with the lovefest, except for Blake. I agree with Blake, it started well-ish, then went downhill for me too.

Corynne (ballet dancing ringet goalie) dances with Anthony (ballroom dancer). They will be dancing the Viennese waltz. FUCK THEY ARE DANCING TO A DAVID COOK SONG!!!!! Can’t think straight again. First Celine, then this! Damn. And I have been told it is the lame ass coronation song, no wonder it was so hideous.

OK, song aside, how was it? It was sweet, it was a waltz. They floated, it was romantic, nothing seemed awkward or forced. I liked it while I watched it, but I forget it almost immediately.

Blake said “It was nice” in that way you know he is being condescending and not really liking it. It didn’t do much for him. All the other judges did. Lovefest, you know, I think I already mentioned this.

Hmmm, my mind is not yet imaging seals yet, but if the judges keep up this inane, “We loved it we did” chatter, I might have to start…

Danny (he does contemporary) and Natalie (she does Krump). They will dance Hip Hop. OK, not the watered down shit, no stories, it is just dancing, hard hitting. I thought Danny kept up with Natalie OK. Not bad.

I didn’t hate that. Yes, this is faint praise, but, come on, it is Hip Hop, I am funny that way. I feel they let it get by with less good choreography most of the time. Therefore it doesn’t often wow me. So this wasn’t bad.

Jayme Rae (contemporary I think) and Daniel (Hip Hop) dance an Afro Jazz routine. Nice choreography Sean Cheeseman. Very good, and performed very well.

This time the judge lovefest is warranted.

Nicholas (a B Boy) and Jenna Lynn. Disco. Hate disco. And this is the first dance of the night that kind of sucks for me. Really, I’m not sure what to say.

So I won’t say anything, except, it was another lovefest. The judges are on crack or something (visions of seals run through my head). Someone must have drugged their suppers tonight.

Tatiana and Austin. They dance. I didn’t care for these two in auditions. They do this African Martial Arts dance, Cappoeria, however it is spelled.

This one is too disjointed and not dancy enough for me. It is more trick oriented.

The judges? Love love love. Criticism? We don’t need no stinking criticism, do we? I guess it is only the first week and the critical claws will come out later.

Taylor (contemporary) and Melanie B (Latin and Ballroom). They will dance the tango. Not bad, not great, not bad. Melanie kicked Taylor in the mouth, she drew blood. Ouch.

Same as the show tonight, not bad, not great, not bad though.

OK, judges, grow some balls and give some useful comments.

So far there are no real favourites for me yet. I will see. And we are being promised a Michael Jackson tribute in the results show, hmmmmm.
