The news is reporting nearly 2 feet of snow in Washington DC, 32 inches of snow at Dulles Airport, and up to 3 feet in parts of northern Maryland.

And they got 27 inches in Philadelphia...

Found via a link at The Velvet Rope:

Death, taxes and backlash.

Those are the inevitable ones, at least for those among us who are lucky enough to experience extraordinary pop music notoriety these days (and in those days, too: Ask Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson... oh, right, we can’t). As a culture, we build these folks up, then slap them down with graceless glee.

In 2009, we as a pop culture anointed Taylor Swift as our pop-country queen. Thus, in 2010, there shall be backlash. And the “shall be” is now an “is,” spurred by Swift’s pitchy vocal performance at last Sunday’s Grammy Awards.

OK, BB ranked Bruce's halftime performance #5

I just listened to the Top 5 performances and, no surprise to some, would rank them a bit differently.

5) Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake
4) Michael Jackson
3) U2—the timing of it made it highly emotional.
2) Bruce Springsteen—a lot of fun
1) Prince—rocked the house and was brilliant.

the ten most spectacular Super Bowl halftimes ever.
...
For Boulder:

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that last year's Super Bowl halftime performance was not considered one of the best?

Thanks for posting, Nevada.

In concert news:

Lady Gaga will play North American and European arenas this year and Live Nation Entertainment's global touring division will take the reins as promoter/producer.

Gaga is set to begin a run of dates in the U.K. (promoted by AEG Live) on Feb. 18 at the MEN Arena in Manchester, followed by shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan, which are all almost sold out. According to sources, it is now expected that the artist will play arenas in Europe some time this spring, then North American arenas in the summer. These will be her first full-blown arena tours in both territories.

Just for fun...

Another Super Bowl is upon us on Feb. 7, and that means another halftime show. This year, the Who is bringing out all of their classic hits, but what about the past? Break out the beer and wings and watch as we countdown the ten most spectacular Super Bowl halftimes ever.

Meanwhile, Kelly continues making new friends in the music industry:

Four days after what critics described as Taylor Swift's "pitch-challenged" performance at the Grammy Awards, Kelly Clarkson has weighed in on the controversy after Swift's record label CEO criticized "American Idol."

In a blog post, Clarkson responded to recent comments by Big Machine Records's Scott Borchetta, who told the Associated Press that the four-time Grammy winner "is the voice of this generation. She speaks directly to [her fans], and they speak directly back to her."

He added, "This is not 'American Idol.' This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator."

On the subject of the Super Bowl, please be extremely careful while viewing any of the pre-game show.

The wanker and his merry band of boy toys are reportedly "performing" at some crappy tailgate event.

You've been warned.
