How clever of them…
ONLINE INDIE INITIATIVE: MySpace Music is now allowing unsigned, indie artists to collect ad-based revenues, with payouts structured through TuneCore, creating another competitive threat for digital distributors like the Orchard and IODA. Artists who already have MySpace pages must re-upload their songs through a TuneCore account to qualify for the advertising payouts. TuneCore starting fees are $19.98 (renewed annually) for any album, while each distribution point (iTunes, MySpace Music, etc.) requires a 99-cent, one-time fee per song. (12/15a)

Not a lot of music news today…
The 1970s Swedish pop group ABBA is dancing its way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, the Hollies and the Stooges.
The list of the next class of inductees was released Tuesday by the hall, which is based in Cleveland.
ABBA — whose hits included “Dancing Queen” — and the Stooges made it in this time after being nominated previously but then not making the cut.

…although there is this:
Never mind Santa Claus. This year’s Christmas is brought to you by jolly old Susan Boyle, whose Syco/Columbia album I Dreamed a Dream returns to #1 for the third consecutive week, adding another 583k in sales, and now passing 1.8 million.
Decca’s Andrea Bocelli remains #2, as My Christmas chalks up another 392k, going over the 1.5 million mark.
Glee, Vol. 2 is the week’s biggest debut at #3, joining the first volume (#10, +107%), and giving Steve Barnett’s Team Columbia three of the Top 10 at the best time of the year.
