And although I’m late on this as always, Taylor who??

Taylor Swift should be given honorary membership to The Attic, for her services – preventing certain individuals (especially lowcase ones) from receiving awards.

LOL Lisa, indeed she should!

And they don’t come any lower than fauxtry. What a talentless toad.

In other music news:
BOYLE-ING OVER? Steve Barnett and his Team Columbia may have the season’s big surprise record on their hands with Susan Boyle‘s I Dreamed a Dream, as preorder reports from Amazon and QVC are shaping up to catapult first-week sales into the 3-400k range. What will tomorrow’s retail picture look like? Stay tuned to this Bat channel for all the scuttlebutt. (11/23a)

Meanwhile…
Taylor Swift (who appeared via satellite from London) took home five statuettes, and Michael Jackson got four at Sunday night’s fan-determined American Music Awards show, which took place at the Nokia Theatre in downtown L.A.
But the AMAs are more about glitz than trophies, and that aspect was handled with fitting excessiveness by all concerned. Janet Jackson opened things up with a medley of old songs, Rihanna, sporting white striped bondage gear, sang a mash-up of ”Wait Your Turn” and “Hard” from the upcoming Rated R, and J.Lo pretended to be a boxer while performing her new single “Louboutins” in an over-the-top production number, during which she took an unfortunate tumble, landing on her tuchus, though we didn’t see it on the West Coast, where her leap was slo-mo’d to cover her imperfect landing.

A rare same-day update from HDD:
DREAM COMES TRUE: Susan Boyle’s Columbia album, I Dreamed a Dream, which hit the streets today, is already selling two to three times the estimated pre-release total for retailers, on top of breaking the all-time pre-order record at Amazon.com. Based on current tallies, the disc will easily top 500k and could go even higher. (11/23p)

Since Lisa dropped by, I thought I’d post a little UK album sales news:
“The X Factor” series tightened its stranglehold on the U.K. sales charts, securing a double victory for creator/judge Simon Cowell’s Sony Music-distributed Syco Music label.
The 2007 “X Factor” winner Leona Lewis scored a new entry at No. 1 with her second album “Echo,” while the show’s 2009 finalists debuted atop the singles chart with a charity cover of Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone.”
Lewis sold 161,000 copies of “Echo,” compared to an opening 375,000 for its predecessor “Spirit” two years ago, according to Official Chart Company data. The new release pushed 2008 “X Factor” runners-up JLS down to No. 2 with their self-titled debut album.

Clearly it’s not only U.S. Americans buying this album:
Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who shot to fame after her audition for “Britain’s Got Talent” was aired in April, appears set to have the biggest album in Britain this year, music retailer HMV said on Monday.
“I Dreamed A Dream,” Boyle’s debut album released by Sony Music, went on sale in Britain on Monday and hits stores in the key U.S. market on Tuesday.
HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said the 48-year-old was on course for first-day sales of nearly 150,000 copies in Britain, including online pre-orders.
“HMV is now revising significantly its estimate for the total weekly sales upward from the 300,000 that we initially projected to a figure closer to 400,000,” Castaldo said.

NEWS ALERT!
Ever since Being Human premiered this summer on BBC America, we have been besieged with requests for the Season 1 DVD. We are happy to relay the news that the various rights issues have been resolved, and DVDs and Blu-rays are in the works, though probably not until mid 2010. In the meantime, why not catch up with woeful werewolf Russell Tovey‘s work in The History Boys and Little Dorrit? And sexy vampire Aiden Turner has recently stirred hearts and dropped trou frequently as the poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rosetti in the BBC miniseries Desperate Romantics, which we hope will reach these shores next year.
Yay!

Why? Just why? Seriously, why?

It’s entirely possible that this is simply a backlash against all of the pretty but vacuous pop stars who seem to dominate the radio airwaves with their over-processed, auto-tuned, triple-tracked “voices.”

Ah, thanks RSF…I see it now.
