If anyone is interested:
BOYLING OVER: Columbia’s debut album from Britain’s Got Talent YouTube sensation Susan Boyle, which doesn’t hit stores until Nov. 24, is back to #1 at Amazon.com in pre-orders, and is on target to beat the all-time record there set by Norah Jones back in 2007 with Not Too Late. (10/15p)

I suspect this might not work out the way the labels want in the long run:
RECORDS 2, RADIO 0: Score another win for the record industry in their battle to collect performance royalties from broadcast radio, as the Senate Judiciary Committee today approved the Performance Rights Act (S. 379). The House Judiciary Committee had previously approved a similar bill, H.R. 848. musicFIRST Coalition executive director Jennifer Bendall asked broadcasters and the NAB βto join with us to create a performance right on radio that is fair to artists, musicians and rights holders.β Why is it we feel a whole lot of talk radio in our future? Wait until the record industry gets wind of this, they’ll be lobbying to get performance royalties for music played in the O.R. too…
For as long as humans have pounded drums and plucked strings, listening to music has affected people’s sense of well-being, lifting their spirits and β as new research shows β calming their nerves. Literally. According to a study at Cleveland Clinic, music can slow the neuronal firings deep within the brain during surgery designed to treat Parkinson’s patients.
and:
And you can’t beat the cost.
With health-care expenditures through the roof, this patient benefit is practically free, says Janigro, who used his own iPod and that of a colleague’s to pump in the music for the study. “The clinic doesn’t have a budget for iPods yet, but soon I think we will. It’s a no-brainer,” he says. “There’s nothing more calming than sleep.”
Time
And heaven help any patient subjected to the arrogant poser tool’s angsty faux rawk…

Yep, it’s the awards season:
Madonna, U2 and AC/DC are among the finalists for the 2009 Billboard Touring Awards, which will be handed out at a special reception in New York on Nov. 5. The awards are based on global boxoffice numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore from Oct. 1, 2008, through Sept. 30, 2009.
The finalists for the Top Tour and Top Draw awards, which acknowledge the top grossing and ticket selling tours, respectively, are the same three global treks: U2′s 360 tour, Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour, and AC/DC’s Black Ice tour.
