This is a little weird…
In the warm air that night, baseball’s routine and soothing sounds mixed with the tribal cadence of off-color chanting, the drifting scent of marijuana and the sight of vinyl records descending through the summer dusk like Frisbees.

The Idols are in already in Portland; the tour starts on Tuesday, and the madness has already started:
One of the women tells of the particularly impressive depths to which she had gone to get to see her Idols. If she didn’t seem so nice, shy and nonterrifying, her tale might be a bit more, well, terrifying. As it is, perhaps it can serve as a cautionary tale to “Idol” security. This woman acknowledges that she is staying at the same hotel as the Idols. When asked how that happened, she nods and says it took a lot of work. “Some of the them haven’t been too careful,” she says. Apparently since they had been in town, one of the Idols linked on Twitter to a video he’d made of a few of them hanging out in one of their hotel rooms. The industrious young fan studied the design elements in the video — the wallpaper, the room furnishings — and went to various hotel websites, studying pictures of their rooms until she found a match. Then she promptly checked in.

Box office news:
It may have been Fourth of July in the United States, but Hollywood found the most reasons to celebrate overseas as Fox’s “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” opened to a huge $148 million during its first five days in 101 foreign countries.
Ticket sales were more muted domestically, as July 4 falling on a Saturday depressed grosses around the country. “Ice Age” ended up in a tie for first place over the weekend in the U.S. and Canada with “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” as both films earned a studio-estimated $42.5 million. In the five days since it opened Wednesday, “Ice Age” grossed $67.5 million, compared with $65 million for “Transformers.”

I hardly listened to the song — not even remotely an Elvis fan — but the video of a real moonwalk was very cool indeed. Thanks Hez!

Ah, if only this industrious energy could be challenged for something good and not so, well, silly.

Fuck me now…I am listening to a cellcert broadcast at Rickey’s. Sound is horrendous for me. Best I can tell, Allison just played, fucker Dead Wife Gokey (who, reportedly, unbuttons his shirt during his performance), is next. Tons of screaming fantards. I want to hear Adam. Not sure if I can endure the madness.
