HAPPY U.S. DAY!!!!

I’m sure ticket sales, or the lack thereof, had nothing to do with this:
Here’s Aerosmith by numbers: The veteran rock band has performed seven shows on its summer tour, but now two of its five members are on the sick list forcing the postponement of at least three shows. In the latest development singer Steven Tyler, 61, has been hobbled by an unspecified injury, putting the kibosh on Cincinnati (July 1), Hershey, Pa. (July 3) and Virginia Beach, Va. (July 5).

Of course, none of that would have happened in this economy:
In early 1984, when Epic Records executives presented their slate of upcoming releases at the convention in Hawaii of parent company CBS Records, they couldn’t resist playing up the success they were experiencing. So between the pitches for new albums, Epic inserted stock footage of semi trucks and a voice-over that thunderously announced, “There goes another load of Michael Jackson‘s ‘Thriller’ albums!”
Trucks weren’t really leaving the warehouse every few minutes, but “Thriller” was still shattering expectations more than a year after its November 30, 1982, release. Epic was selling more than 1 million copies per month in the United States alone.

Happy 4th of July to all of my American blog buddies! I’m off to a 4th of July concert which will culminate in many large explosions in the sky.
I have a co-worker who has tickets to one of their SoCal shows, and for her sake, I hope Tyler has his feet in order by that time. She’s literally counting down the days until the concert…
