1886 – The musical fantasy “A Night on Bald Mountain” was performed in St. Petersburg, Russia.

1956 – “Ain’t Got No Home” by Clarence Henry was released. It was his first hit.

1960 – Ben E. King records his first solo songs, “Spanish Harlem” and “Stand by Me.”

1964 – “Come See About Me” was released by the Supremes.

1975 – Bruce Springsteen was simultaneously on the cover of “Time” and “Newsweek.”

1982 – Prince’s album “1999″ was released.

1990 – Xavier Cugat died of heart failure at the age of 90.

1991 – Lorrie Morgan and Brad Thompson were married.

1991 – Jimmy Dean and Donna Meade were married.

1995 – Gloria Estefan becomes the only pop artist to receive a call from the Pope to perform.

1995 – Yolanda Saldivar was sentenced to life in prison by a Texas jury for the murder of Selena.

1998 – Jazz singer Peggy Lee suffered a stroke and was hospitalized.
